Resolution in Support of
Creating a Memorial Park in Castro Valley Honoring Veterans of the United
States Armed Services
Whereas; Castro Valley is currently
home to over 5,000 veterans of the United States Armed Services many of
whom have served to defend our country in foreign wars, and
Whereas; Castro Valley has given
countless more of its sons and daughters, who, in serving our country paid
the ultimate price, sacrificing their lives to defend our liberty and freedom,
and
Whereas; Castro Valley has always been
a strong patriotic community that honors its heroes and celebrates its
history and the people that made its history rich, and
Whereas; Currently the voters of Castro
Valley have the opportunity to develop a new park on open space by passing
Measure Q, and
Whereas; There are no parks in Castro Valley
dedicated in honor of our veterans, and
Whereas; The Castro Valley Municipal Advisory
Council is charged with the duty of acting as a body representative of
Castro Valley’s residents, providing guidance to other agencies, and bringing
forward important local issues,
Therefore be it resolved that the Castro
Valley Municipal Advisory Council formally requests that if Measure Q passes,
the Hayward Area Recreation District name the new 24 acre park “The Castro
Valley Veteran’s Memorial Park.”
Be it further resolved that the Castro
Valley Municipal Advisory Council formally requests that the Hayward Area
Recreation District explore creating a monument, with public input, to
be placed in the park to honor those who have served our country so bravely. |
